Captured Angel – a Review

In the sequel to Dirt Road Main Street: A Novel, Holly is heartbroken. While on the rebound, she agrees to marry Jared, who has been in love with her for a long time. Holly doesn’t love him, but she has decided that she can spend her life with him. Jared’s love for her will have to be enough for both of them. How long will she be able to keep up this sham of an engagement? Will she be able to marry him?

Then Tano shows up. Even though Holly feels she has been betrayed by Tano, she still longs for him. They do love each other, but is their love strong enough to bring them back together?

I felt so bad for Jared when Holly called off their wedding, but as I said before, Holly didn’t love him. But Jared’s mom becomes very angry when Holly breaks off their engagement. She hadn’t treated Holly nicely before, but now her need for revenge will make you angry and show you how selfish of a woman she really is. Jared? He had no need for getting even. Deep down, he knew how Holly really felt.

I’m not one that likes to read romance books, but this book has so much more in it than romance. Of course there is love and heartache, but there is also dishonesty, betrayal, mistaken identity, and revenge. Nail-biting suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. A case of mistaken identity by a mentally unstable young man will put Holly’s life in danger.

The suspense along with the characters’ actions and thoughts are more than enough to pull you into this book, but the songs scattered throughout the book give you even more insight to what is going through their minds. A few of the videos to these songs are in this review. At the back of the book, a complete list of these songs is provided.

Once I started reading this book, it was extremely hard to put down, but I would have probably stained the book with food if I had tried to read and cook at the same time, and I probably would’ve messed up the recipe somehow. But even with reading breaks for cooking and cleaning up the messes I made cooking, I read this in just over a day.

I received a copy of this book free of charge, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.  If you would like your own copy of Captured Angel, I’ve provided an Amazon link for you below.
