Writing is a journey of self-discovery and exploration, a quest to bring to life the stories that have been swirling around in my head for as long as I can remember. It’s a vibrant and dynamic experience that encompasses every aspect of my life, from walking the beach with my husband, to cooking dinner, or simply daydreaming. My mind is always buzzing with ideas, characters, and storylines that are just waiting to be brought to life.
As a writer, I approach my craft with dedication and discipline, allowing my imagination to run wild and my fingers to dance across the keyboard with reckless abandon. Each day, I carve out a sacred space in my schedule for the sacred act of creation, from the early hours of the morning to the late hours of the night.
Though writing can be a solitary and sedentary activity, I make it a point to stay connected to the wider writing community. From attending workshops and conferences to participating in online writing groups, I’m constantly seeking out new perspectives and insights that can help me hone my craft and take my writing to the next level.
But perhaps the most essential aspect of my writing process is my commitment to staying true to my own voice and vision. Whether I’m writing a Young Adult Paranormal Romance like Hunterland or a Young Adult Sports romance like my next release, Sideliners, I always strive to infuse my work with a sense of authenticity and integrity that reflects my own vision.
Of course, there are days when the words don’t come easily, when the plot seems to twist and turn in ways that defy logic, and when marketing feels like an insurmountable mountain to climb. But even in those moments, I never lose sight of my ultimate goal: to share my stories with the world, to transport readers to new worlds and experiences, and to leave them with a sense of wonder and awe.
To achieve this goal, I make small daily goals for myself, such as writing 1,000 to 3,000 words per session or editing one to three chapters a day. I also have distinct stages, such as writing days, line-editing days, character development days, and more. So even though each day is different, the processes repeat.
In the end, every word, every page, every story has the power to change someone’s life, to bring excitement or comfort or entertainment to someone who needs it most. And in doing so, I hope to leave a lasting legacy that will inspire and uplift generations of readers to come.
