Did you know that cats once helped with an ancient battle? Monkeys escape from a zoo, and an emu is on the run. The corpse flower is really stinky: Why would someone want to receive one of their very own for Valentine’s Day?

Cats and other animals helped win an ancient battle between the Persians and Egyptians. Animals the Egyptians considered sacred were used. For example, the Persians would hold cats in front of them, and since the Egyptians considered them sacred, they would not fire arrows at them. You can read about this here:

Use your imagination, and write about another battle that cats help win. This time, the cats are actually fighting though. How do they help win the battle? Do they use their stealth? Do they take advantage of supposedly having nine lives?

Blossom, Lily, Calla, or some other flower name is the name of your female character. You’ll find some suggestions at the link below. I didn’t realize all of the suggestions could be thought of as flower names, so prepare to be surprised.

She wants a different kind of flower from her boyfriend for Valentine’s day, one that isn’t normally thought of as romantic: she wants her own corpse flower. Why does she want such a morbid flower for Valentine’s Day? You decide.

Four mischievous monkeys escape from a zoo right before an unseasonably warm winter turns frigidly cold and blizzards that dump many feet of snow occur. Why do they want to escape? Have they seen a place they want to go and frolic around in? Maybe they’ve seen a house off in the distance they believe is home to all the rest of their kind? Or do they think it the home of their monkey god?

Are these monkeys dangerous? Do they survive the freezing temperatures? Are the zoo owners able to retrieve them? How? And if they do manage to retrieve them, what changes do they make to keep them from escaping again? Does it work?

An emu is a large flightless bird that lives in Australia and New Guinea. The only bird larger than the emu is the ostrich. Emus can be up to 6.5 feet tall and weigh up to 99 pounds. They can’t fly, but their strong legs enable them to run up to 31 miles per hour.

Emus are not normally violent, but they can be aggressive during bredding season or if they feel trapped. So how would you react if you came across an emu in the wild or one that has escaped from the zoo?

Apparently in the UK, some people think that it’s a good idea to chase emus in their 4x4s. I’m not sure what they would do if they caught one. I’m not even sure they know what they would do.

Since emus aren’t native to the UK, I would guess that this particular one has escaped from the zoo. Had the emu been planning his escape from the zoo? Was he the only animal brave enough or fed up enough to escape? Does he have a specific place in mind to go? Is there a club of escaped zoo animals in the UK? Is he trying to get to it? Does he have a love interest already there waiting on him?

Or maybe his keeper left a way for him to escape open? Was it left open intentionally or unintentionally?
