When I first read the description of INFECtIOUS, I knew I had to read it. Did the author manage to write an unputdownable Christian zombie book? The answer to that question is a definite yes.
Ivy resides in a small gated and fenced community of the Living (yes, it is capitalized for a reason) with her Aunty Coe. It is a community of believers, none of whom are affected physically by the flesh-eating disease that takes control of the body of unbelievers. But those affected by the disease are mostly too far gone to really care.
Their community is gated and fenced for a reason. Fortified would be a better word. The zombies—I can’t really think of anything better to call them—want to get in. Even though I call them zombies, they don’t try and chase the unaffected down for their brains. They can still walk and talk, but their skin is still rotting off of their bodies. And they stink in such a way that a shower wouldn’t help.
Ivy is a teenager. She wants to obey her aunt and be good, but she is still your normal teenager. When Matt, one of the infected, is brought into the community to visit his brother who is in the process of healing, she at first hates him. But as Matt begins to heal, her feelings rapidly change. She keeps telling herself that it is wrong to become romantically involved with a zombie. And she is also struggling with her attraction to one of the Living inside their community.
When Ivy finds out that her aunt is sick, she worries about being left alone in this crazy world. At the same time, she is fighting within herself to discover who she really is.
Intense situations, actions, and struggles fill this book as well as mystery and nail-biting suspense. The cliffhanger ending left me wanting to immediately start the next book.

About the Author, Elizabeth Forkey
So not cool enough to have someone else write a bio for me so this is first person…. just like my books INFECtIOUS and IMMACULAtE. I write books that mean something. I want my books to encourage you AND entertain you. Becoming a writer has been challenging, fraught with lessons, and slow as molasses, but it has also been rewarding, magical, and enlightening. Every day I am a little more sure that writing is my thing. IMMINENt is coming soon!!
P.S. If you read my book and leave a review, it will literally be the highlight of my entire day. Sometimes I jump up and down and kiss whomever I happen to be standing next to. You hold that power in your hands. Wield it how you will…. 🙂
Looks like it’s written in present tense?
Yes, it is.
