My Beautiful Suicide is the story of a young girl who wants to end her life in such a way that it helps others. It is also a profound love story of two individuals who, through a series of events, discover just how perfect for each other they are.
I will start by saying that this book is not meant for young people to read. It was written for a mature audience. The scenes are graphic when violence and/or sex are involved, but I picked up a Christian message laced throughout the twisted darkness between the covers. Even though I picked up on a Christian message, this book was not written for Christians.
Suicide is an ugly thing. After my mom’s death when I was only eight, in my own childish way, I tried to kill myself but didn’t succeed. I never thought about the effects it would have on the rest of my family if I were successful. I saw it when the brother of a good friend of mine hung himself. I saw it when another friend of mine blew her brains out. Suicide is never pretty and definitely not beautiful.
This is the story of sixteen-year-old Cosette, a tormented young lady who hates her life. Her parents are divorced and she hardly ever hears from her dad. She has one close friend she goes to school with, but she also goes to school with a bully who torments her and beats her up on a regular basis.
A gang of serial rapist-murderers, the Posers, is roaming the Louisville, KY/Jeffersonville, IN region. Cosette saves a young lady from the rapist-murderer then discovers that not only has she has saved her worst enemy, but she has killed the attacker.
It is soon after this that Cosette decides just how she will make her suicide beneficial. She will be the final victim of the Poser and leave his DNA on her so the police can identify and catch him. But there is a problem. Each time Cosette is attacked, she defends herself and ends up killing the attacker. Then she discovers that she enjoys what she is doing.
Cosette’s close friend and her mother are Christians. God tells them things and speaks to them through dreams. Don’t be deceived though. Even though her best friend is a Christian, just as in real life, she is not perfect. Will they be able to save Cosette from the dark road she is traveling?
My Beautiful Suicide is a profound love story of two individuals who, through a series of events, discover just how perfect for each other they are. I love the subtle bits of humor that are thrown into this dark and twisted tale. Each of the characters has many layers. As each layer is peeled away a bit at a time, their traits and complexities are revealed. This way it feels as though you really get to know them, and you become intricately involved in their lives.

In Controlling Cosette, the next book in this series, the fight going on in Cosette’s mind and life is fully revealed. Her suicide attempt was not a complete success since she is still alive. She is still in shock at the identity of the Poser and upset that he didn’t kill her. Recovery is slow, but Chris and her other friends stay by her side the entire time.
Overwhelmed with guilt for the things she has done, Cosette vows to no longer do as her murderous alter ego Bonnie wants her to do. But in order to be successful at shutting Bonnie out, there are a few things she must first accomplish. When things don’t go as planned and Bonnie wakes up stronger than ever, Cosette must make a choice.
In How to Kill a Pedophile, the third book in this series, Cosette has made her decision. After a friend’s betrayal and some surprising family secrets are discovered, she makes her kills a little more public. Though the public does not know exactly who is responsible for these killings, they let it be known that they do support Louisville’s Vigilante, known as Double V. After all, the public is being made safer with each drug dealer and pedophile she kills.
Her “family” is growing, and all of them love and support her actions. A rogue cop not only protects her but also feeds her addiction by providing names of those who need to be punished by Double V. Mattie is praying harder to save her, but it is no longer as easy for Mattie to see what Cosette is up to. The road Cosette is traveling down is becoming darker, and she has no plans to stop feeding her addiction.
These books are an addiction. Once I became involved in the roller coaster events of Cosette’s life and what she does, I did not want to stop reading. Since I am the one who edited books two and three, and re-edited book one, I got the pleasure of closely reading each book more than once. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. If you read the first three books in this series, you will be eagerly waiting for the rest of the series too.

About the Author:
Atty Eve was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Family life with a religious mother and a short-tempered alcoholic father was rough. Her escape was reading and music. She was probably the only kid with her nose in a book during the Air Force Academy football games.
As a teen, she was an 80’s new waver with black shaved hair, a pale face, and bright red lipstick. She was very self-destructive and always got into trouble. Needing a change, she followed her father’s footsteps and joined the Air Force.
During her four-year enlistment, she was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada where she met her husband. They both got out of the military and moved to Southern Indiana on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky. She has two teenage boys whom she tries to embarrass but has yet to succeed.
Her first novel was written over ten years ago and was on the verge of having it published when, sadly, her publisher passed away. She shelved her books for a few years to work on their family business. Now she is back to writing and has decided her fate is in her own hands.
Thank you so much for the great review! I’m thrilled you liked it and hope your audience will too.
