Secrets at Meadow Lake – a Review

Riley and her college friends share a dark secret, one that they have managed to keep hidden for the past ten years, or so they think, since leaving college.

Riley and each of her old college friends receive a mysterious invitation to a weekend getaway at a cabin on Meadow Lake. Then a blizzard hits, and they are trapped. No one lives close to where they are, the roads are way too hazardous to travel, and cell phone service is out.

One by one, they begin to die. If they thought something weird was going on before, now they know for sure something is very wrong. Tensions run high as they suspect one another of being behind the invitation. I mean, no one else knows what they did, do they?

Secrets at Meadow Lake by Wendy Owens is a nail-biting psychological thriller. A dialogue-driven story, the characters reveal so much, intentionally or unintentionally, through their conversation. The past of each character is revealed through what is said as well as the part that they played in the death of a college professor. The fact that they are at each other’s throats all the time show just how on edge the situation they are in has them.

Would I recommend this book? I most definitely would. Fans of Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians, one of my favorite books, would love this story. It is very different from Christie’s classic book, but there are some basic similarities to it.

I received an advance copy of this book for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. If you would like your own copy of this book to read and enjoy, I’ve provided an Amazon link for you below.
