Sipping Wine & Fishing for Bodies – a Review

Abigail owns and runs an ice cream parlor, Sweet Street, in Shelter Mountain, Alaska. Her ferret, Flick, goes with her just about everywhere. And Flick is an exceptionally well-trained ferret, much better trained than any cat or dog I’ve ever known.

Since she reads any cozy mystery she can get her hands on, Abigail is convinced she could solve just about any crime that happens. Little does she know, those feelings are soon to be put to the test.

She and Tucker, a childhood friend who happens to be a police officer, set out to go fishing one morning. But Abigail catches something she didn’t expect to: a dead body. Okay, so she spotted the body before she started fishing. Still, it was something she didn’t expect. Who was this, and how did he end up dead in the water so close to their fishing spot in their little town?

Where does wine come into the story? The Scoops & Sips Tasting Club is where Abigail and her friends eat the custom ice cream flavors she creates, like Homicidal Hazelnut, and drink wine that is perfectly paired with the ice cream flavor of the evening. Of course, her finding the body floating in the water is discussed.

The murdered man turns out to have a surprising connection to Shelter Mountain, and theories abound as to who murdered him and why. I thought I had it all figured out so many times, but I never did solve it until very close to the end of the book. I absolutely love the title of this enjoyable great mystery with plenty of humor and a satisfactory ending. It does not disappoint.
