Accents of Horror: Four Flavors of Death – a Review

A hitchhiker, a man with no face, a car crash victim, an out-of-work actor, and Death himself all play a part in the macabre stories in this book.

“A Stranger in the Rain” – Have you ever done something in your life that you’ve regretted? Something that you don’t want anyone else to know about?

Danny Miller is plagued by nightmares of a faceless man. When Danny first mentioned this faceless man, it brought to mind one of my favorite songs. The faceless man in the song is very different from the one that Danny sees in his nightmares though.

This faceless man that appears in his horrible dreams is haunting him, accusing him. Then he picks up a hitchhiker . . .

“Headlights” – This story is a bit sad, yet it’s creepy. It will make you think before you stop for anyone when you’re out driving, even a victim of a car wreck, especially if you’re going down a lonely road.

“Dinner with Death” – I’ve had guests for dinner before but never a guest like the one that sat down with the Godwin family. How would you react if Death came to have dinner with you?

“The Comeback” (written by Ellen C. Maze) – An out-of-work actor plans his comeback, but it doesn’t turn out like he expected.

After these four stories, there is a sneak peek into The Preacher. A smalltown preacher encounters monsters and demons in his town. Will he survive? The peek into this book will only leave you hungry for more.

Asperger’s Syndrome and Writing – Guest Post by Chris Snider

Favorite Sentences:
Every time he slept he was visited by the man without a face.

After so much time of people wanting to gun him down every day, it was hard to learn to trust anybody that wasn’t a soldier.

It doesn’t matter who someone is or what they are trying to do to you, whether it is war or self-defense, killing someone changes you for life.

Looking back at him, a hellish creature with burning red eyes, the nose and mouth of an alligator, and stringy black hair that dripped from a gruesome scalp.

About the Author, Chris Snider:
I’m a thirty-three-year-old writer and a Christian who has Asperger’s syndrome. My first book was very Christian-based though I write mostly in the horror genre. I am the author of four books on Amazon: Snowy Pines, The Preacher, Artemis, and The Bone Spirit.

My favorite authors are Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Tami Hoag. My hobbies include reading and writing, but I’m also a fan of video games and the NFL. I’ve always been fond of RPG games and survival horror games. My favorite NFL team is the Baltimore Ravens and I try to never miss a game.
