Anna Banana – a Review

“Anna Banana” is not only a cute story for children, ages two to seven, it is also a primer that will teach them about fruits and veggies in a way that is sure to make them giggle. Whether you’re reading it to your child, or your child is still learning to read and reading it on their own, this rhyming picture book is a lot of fun to read.

Anna, not happy with where she is living, is searching for a new home. Her current home is tall enough, but it’s too narrow to allow her to have many belongings.  She barely has room to keep a plant and a ball. What is this home? It is a banana. So begins Anna’s search for a new home in a world where fruits and veggies are rented out for people to live in.

Each time Anna moves into a different fruit or veggie, she learns some important facts about them.

Next she tries and orange. She does have room for more belongings – a window, a desk with a comfy seat, a picture, and a bookshelf. Could this be the home she has been looking for? Alas, no. This one is far too sweet.

An entire year flies by as she searches and tries to find a house that is comfy with enough room for her. She searches and searches for the perfect fruit of veggie to live in. An onion? A carrot? A lemon? A radish? A melon?

When Anna’s search is finally over, she has found a home with stairs that she can fit so many belongings in – a sofa, a couple of chairs, a rug, pictures, and windows. She even has enough room for a cat and a dog!

After the story ends, there are riddles to solve. What child doesn’t like riddles? And answers to some questions about fruits and veggies are provided.

Colorful illustrations make the story of Anna and her search for the perfect home even more enjoyable. Just looking at the cover would be enough to make anyone long to read this book.
