Marion – a Review

Marion’s day starts out normal but goes straight downhill from there. When it begins, she’s not a criminal on the run. Well, she sort of is, but that’s another part of the story. A series of unfortunate events takes place, and before long, she becomes a killer who has committed three murders.

Marion is a twist on Hitchcock’s iconic classic Psycho—where the leading lady doesn’t die but instead turns the knife on Norm, kicking off a crime spree and turning the silver screen victim into a heroine.

Norman was her first murder.

There is a shower scene, but it turns out very different from the one we’re used to seeing in Psycho. And I will let you know that I’ve never seen the movie, but thanks to YouTube, I have seen the shower scene.

When Marion commits her first murder, Norm, it isn’t intentional, well, not unless you count trying to save your own life as intentional. She is on a road trip with a purpose, and Norman attempted to stop her forever.

The next murder isn’t really intentional. It just kind of happens.

The third murder. Well, I don’t think that one was intentional either. But now her sister is involved, and she says they need to call her mom. Her mom once said she would help them even if it involved murder – she would help them bury the body. Well, now they are in big need of her help, and she really does need to help them bury the body. But in this case, it is bodies. Mom always knows best, right? And they really could use her help with this.

The author did a fantastic job writing this book. She had me rooting for Marion to get away with everything. Does she? That is for me and everyone else who has read this book to know. But I will say that I was very satisfied with the ending just as I’m sure you will be.

I couldn’t finish this book fast enough. I really couldn’t because life got in the way. Not in the same way it got in the way of what Marion set out to accomplish, but my day-to-day tasks took up too much time. Still I looked forward to reading it each time I was able to pick up my Kindle. If life hadn’t gotten in my way, I would have been able to finish it in just a couple of days.
