Retribution – a Review

Can anyone ever escape his or her past?

“Hello, Sin.”  That whisper sent her into a panic. How could someone have found her?  Identities have been changed.  Now known as Will and Diana, Sin and Lee have moved to a new place and have new jobs. Diana (Sin) is a police officer; Will (Lee) is an accountant.  Will refuses to make roots of any kind, but Diana makes good friends with Reese, a female cop who works with her.

RetributionWithout practice, their senses have dulled and their fighting skills are not nearly as sharp as they used to be.  Then Ivan Kurev shows up.  Even worse, Diana discovers someone she is close to is a member of the same mafia she and Will want to escape from.

But no one messes with Sin.

The story is fast paced with lots of in-depth fight scenes.  Add to that a touch of romance, mind-boggling suspense, and revealed secrets that surprised me.  It was hard for me to put this book down.  When I had no other choice but to quit reading so I could do the dishes or cook or take a shower, my mind could not quit thinking about what was going on in the story.  I kept trying to figure out what was going to happen next.  Was I ever successful?  Nope.

The author did a great job of surprising me.  Things came out in this book that I really had no suspicion of.  The way characters and events turn out to be connected make this story one that I truly enjoyed reading.
