The Minotaurs of Maze World – a Review

Jason never asked for any of this. He hadn’t asked to be part of the Reality Rifters. Riley seems to think that he should know how to do everything that Jason Leaper 113 knew how to do, but he doesn’t. Even though Jason learns really fast, it still takes a little bit of time for him to learn everything.

Impatient to find another job for the Reality Rifters, Riley has Jason Leaper 934 take them to “The Market,” a place filled with creatures from other worlds and other planets. They secure a job on Maze World to obtain ten Minotaur skins. Jason’s ability to rift and to hunt Minotaurs is put to the test. Feeling unwanted doesn’t make this task any easier on Jason.

The job turns deadly when a rival mercenary group starts stalking the Reality Rifters, wanting to take the skins they’ve already gotten. This rival mercenary group would just as soon kill them. Jason learns not all of their adventures are free from near-death calls when he is seriously injured, and later on, Riley is even more seriously injured.

The part where Gliath, a leopardwere, starts showing his human side by taking selfies of himself to send home to his dad on Ebonexus was humorous. But Gliath took his selfies with a CamComm, not a smart phone, although the CamComm was probably really smart.

Even though their trip to Maze World is fraught with danger, Jason, Riley, and Gliath learn a lot about each other, and they learn how to work together. This trip is a time for Riley and Gliath to come to terms with the fact that Jason Leaper 113 is dead and gone, and Jason Leaper 934 is the one he chose to take his place.

About the Author:

Eddie writes cosmic horror, grim sci-fi, and dark fantasy. His books are full of adventure, guns, monsters, and weird places. When not writing, Eddie either is playing with firearms, swords and other pointy things, or enjoying craft beer, a good smoke, and maybe some scotch. He might also be fighting zombies or contemplating other dimensions.

Born in south Louisiana, Eddie Patin has lived in Colorado for most of his life with a short stint in Vegas as a professional poker player—back before it was cool. He’s a musician and an artist. He has also worked as a marketing consultant and graphic designer. Most of his books are gritty and a fast-paced blend of 60% science fiction and 40% fantasy with a dark, swirling tinge of terror and the bizarre sh** that the tiny human mind cannot fully comprehend.
