Why eBay is an Entrepreneur’s Dream – Guest Post by Anthony Ryan Sadana

Very often I feel like our investments choose us versus us choosing our investments. I think opportunity is constantly presenting itself, and we need to pick and choose what is right for us.

I think being an “eBayer” really helps an entrepreneur take advantage of a never-ending array of opportunities. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. For example, let’s say you own a small coffee shop, and you meet someone who has 200 pillows for sale. It’s going to be hard to integrate pillows into your coffee business. Tomorrow a dry cleaner is going bankrupt, and you want to resell the equipment; again, how do you make this fit into your traditional business model?

Not so with eBay. With eBay you can sell anything and everything. You can take advantage of nearly every opportunity that presents itself in some way. It’s always easy to find something to buy and resell, whereas in traditional retail you are always searching for “the perfect product.”

During the peak of the COVID shutdown, my online store was still up and running. During the worst economic downturns, digital will keep going and going like the Energizer Bunny. If tomorrow people no longer want coffee and you are stuck in the coffee business, it’s going to be a tough and financially destructive slog to rebuild what you already started. With eBay, all you need to do is source a new product line, and you’re up and running. And still thriving.

As I’m writing this article, I am 35,000 feet in the air somewhere between Miami and Las Vegas. I can guarantee that although I’m flying, I’m still making money. I can be completely disconnected from the world, off on some island, and the money keeps rolling in. I can’t imagine a better dream than a nonstop flow of revenue 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The only downside is the necessary commitment to always ship your products on time and with minimal delays. It took me years of building my store to get to the point where I could afford to hire someone to do that for me. Now all I have to do is watch over the account and generally make sure everything is running smoothly. It took a lot of hard work to get to this point. But it was worth it.
